S57..Forever the Bridesmaid ?

Written by TEAM BOBYN at 20:41 7/8-2021

S57 was a good season for TB, joint fourth best ever in the team's history, however is was a raft of second-places which thwarted S57 from being TB's best ever. Kapriyanov was superb and deserved his Fans rider of the season with two wins, a hatful of podiums, historic tour performances and a best ever 428th rating in the rider classification.

TB ended S57 in D5 which was a good show, not far off D4, in which the team gained some useful exposure. Bugayev dissappointed but he'll have some downhill competition going forward and Spearman clocked up a few valuable places in his final season. Special mentions as well to Yenotov and Voronkov for picking up runners-up awards and for Nechayev for picking up a place in a D4 race. However it was Kapriyanov who easily stole the show for TB with his wins in Sandoyar Sysla einkultstartur and the first stage of the Monte Rosa tour

Team Manager Barry said "A good season for TB, just a shade from picking up a third win and being that great season, Kapriyanov was superb. Special thanks to Spearman for his final swansong - it will be interesting to see how S58 develops without his leadership."

   In summary:

   Pts: 509 (-6pts)
   Division: E (5) (- Divisions)
Rank: Ukraine 2nd (-place) worldwide 270th (+1 places)
   Team Value 1.661m (+102k)

   Personnel & Tactical Changes
Bugayev will remain as Team Captain but with Spearman's retirement his Cobblist prodigy, Davydov will become VC with Vajda backup for the Hillster crew. Bud Walsh announces his retirement after 15 seasons and decides not to go into training. Yemelyanenko will give it one more season.

  STOP PRESS:
It has been reported in the local Kyiv press that after a training room bust-up between Liam Roberts, the retiring Bud Walsh and some other team members (no names mentioned) Liam Roberts has been sacked as training coach at TB. His place will be taken by Halden Spearman.

   International:
A great season for the National Team with Ukraine securing their second Comrade Title and a CON appearrance (albeit rather muted) , a number of TB were heavily features, including Bugayev (4 caps, 1 CON), Davydov (2 caps, 1 CON), Nechayev (4 caps, 1 CON), Voronkov (3 caps, 1 CON), Kapriyanov (2 caps, 1 CON) and Dmitriyev and Chupov receieving their NT season debuts (3 caps, 1 CON) and 1 Cap respectively.

For TB's Uzbek contingent, Yenotov has certainly cemented his place as hier to Myatlev's technical specialist picking up 8 rides for the Uzbek NT, 4 of them were CON rides.

U23 - NOt much to see here !

   Ukraine Honours
   Chernivtsi - Ostrytsia, D5 Spearman 8th

   Tours & Cups

TB were able to enter 2 tours, a much reduced entry compared to previous years although that did not stop Kapriyanov producing historic performances in both the Monte Rosa and the Oryx tours including TB first ever stage win.

Monte Rosa Tour (D5) - best stage Performance
   GC - Myatlev 19th (S50)
   Av.Pos - Myatlev (S50) 37th
Best Stage Performance: - Demian Kapriyanov (S57) Bern Prologue
   - winner

   Oryx (D6) Best stage Performance
   GC - Walter Vannoy (S49 n/A) (S48) 8th
   Av.Pos - Walter Vannoy (S49 34th) (S48) 11th)
   Best Stage Performance: -
   Demian Kapriyanov (S57) Walvis Bay-Swakopmund 2nd

   Objectives for S58

   (i) Be top ranked Ukraine Side (S57-fail - )
(ii) Finish in D4 - get some exposure to D4 (S57 - partial fail some time spent in D4)
   (iii) Target 3 x wins.(S57-2 wins - Met)

Nice PR. Good luck next season!

Mal / Fedor Thanks. Kapriyanov is certainly turning out to be a useful rider although he is currently maxed so I cannot see him progressing much further than D3.

As for Yenotov yes it's a shame although there is certainly plenty of more room I feel for both Yenotov and Arshavin to develop further.

ArxhangiiliPoznyakax at 22:31 7/8-2021
Very happy to see Kapriyanov shining , i couldn't give him the right conditions to shine and you did.

Other than that, congrats on a nice season! Your season summaries are always full of statistics, interesting goals and "backstories" of your riders which for me shows you have a nice vision on your team, so reading the summaries is always enjoyable! And as always, thanks for the amazing work on the Comrade Cup!

Tashkent Browncoats at 22:10 7/8-2021
Yenotov is indeed becoming a valuable member to the NT, I hope he can still pick up some race training points. Such a shame that he generated as a CL rider, with those extra 15 points he would be secured from a spot in the NT for the rest of his career (although Uzbekistans traditional poor selection of sprinters will probably have the same effect, anyway). Did Arshavin max already btw?
